Discover Festival events at Filton Library

South Gloucestershire Discover Festival 2014.

The Discover Festival is back for its third year, with an exciting programme of over 200 events to help you discover something new in South Gloucestershire. The festival runs from 11th September to 31st October. Activities include nature walks, heritage open days, advice sessions, concerts and crafts – there is something for everyone to enjoy.

The festival is organised by South Gloucestershire Council, local residents, community groups and businesses.

Events taking place at Filton Library (BS34 7BR) include:

Monday 29th September 10.30am – 12pm
Party for St Peter’s Hospice
Try your hand at making jewellery, cards and a book sculpture whilst helping us to raise funds for St Peter’s Hospice. Drinks and cakes will be served. No booking required just turn up!

Thursday 2nd October 7.30pm
The Luftwaffe’s Attacks on the Aircraft Industry in South Gloucestershire 1940-42 (A talk by John Penny)
On the anniversary of the Luftwaffe’s attacks on the aircraft industry in South Gloucestershire join us for a talk by John Penny. Tickets are free and available from any library or online via Eventbrite. Refreshments will be available.

Thursday 16th October 7.30pm
Wartime Radio Broadcasting (A talk by John Penny)
Join us for a nostalgic trip down radio memory lane! Tickets are free and available from any library or online via Eventbrite. Refreshments will be available.

Saturday 25th October 10.30am
Concert with Northavon Singers
Join us for a selection of songs performed by the popular Northavon Singers. No need to book just turn up! Refreshments will be available from 10.15am.
